About the Event

Learn about comics and how they are an excellent tool for capturing the attention and imagination of all learners. In this series, you will learn about the history of comics (sequential art), types and styles of this genre, the formal elements of comics and how you and your students  can to create your own comics and stories for print and the internet.

This is the first event of a six-part series that will allow participants time to apply what they learn as they collaborate and create with global educators to share stories through the lens of graphic literature.

The class is taught by Dr. David Greenfield, Ed.D. an educator, technologist, artist, and scholar of graphic novels, in particular non-fiction and historical fiction.  He earned his M.A.Ed. in Educational Technology, and his Ed.D. in Learning Technologies from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, writing  his dissertation on using graphic novels to teach youth about social justice, Beyond Super Heroes and Talking Animals: Social Justice in Graphic Novels in Education, Dr. Greenfield has presented at ComicCon, and education conferences and has been teaching students and teachers about comics in both the classroom and online environments for over 10 years.
